It started with
a table.
My grandmother Mimi’s table was never short on people, or food.
There was never much open real estate, and there was always room for one more. Cooking was how Mimi expressed love, cared for people, and created community.
After various life events, I realized a handmade keepsake she made for me years prior represented so much of what I was craving in my own life: connection, creativity, and a reason to gather.
So I set out to make it again.
After many, many failed attempts, I began transforming Mimi’s handmade original into something modern without losing the heart of it.
I experimented, refined, reworked, and slowly turned a treasured keepsake into a product that could live beyond my own family.
Along the way, I realized I wasn’t just recreating something Mimi had made, I was creating a new way to carry forward what it represented:
Generosity, community, and connection.
That was the beginning of KWOLA®.
I am now beyond proud to share KWOLA® with the world.
