It started with a table.
My grandmother Mimi’s table was never short on people, or food.
There was never much open real estate, and there was always room for one more. Cooking was how Mimi expressed love, cared for people, and created community.
Years later, I realized the handmade keepsake she made for me represented so much of what I was craving in my own life: connection, creativity, and a reason to gather.
So I set out to make it again.
Turns out, I was not a seamstress.
KWOLA® is a well-crafted carrier for food that travels and made for gathering.
Born in Austin. Inspired by Mimi.
Thank you for bringing KWOLA to the table.
Gather in Good Taste.®
KWOLA® is a one-woman shop based in Austin, TX. Manufactured with Lefty productions (woman owned, US based), and brought to you proudly by a loving Granddaughter.
After many, many failed attempts (and more than a little blood on the fabric), I turned to my creative community for help transforming Mimi’s handmade original into something modern without losing the heart of it.
I experimented, refined, reworked, and slowly turned a treasured keepsake into a product that could live beyond my own family.
Along the way, I realized I wasn’t just recreating something Mimi had made, I was creating a new way to carry forward what it represented.
Generosity, community, and connection.
That was the beginning of KWOLA®.
